Q: How did you get involved in monster trucks?

A: Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be a monster truck driver!  I went to a lot of shows in Vancouver as a little girl with my family. And as i grew older I was determined to become a driver! Everyone always told me to grow up get a real job/ education. And I would always be soo mad at them because i was serious this is what I want to do. A few of my teachers always put my dream down, saying that there is no such thing as a female monster truck driver! I was so determined to prove them wrong!
I drove Firestorm the monster ride truck for a year and a half For Paul Mayfield. Driving the ride truck I travelled a lot and met new people. That's how I met Don Frankish. He let me take his truck out for a round of freestyling in Lethbridge, Alberta in July 2006. It was an adrenaline rush. I was excited and happy. I went out into that bull ring and at first i just drove over the cars to get use to the steering and the horse power. i got use to it pretty quick and away i went over the cars and i got some air! it was amazing. i got out of the truck and everyone wanted to see if my hands were shaking and they weren't. I then at that very moment decided that yes I can so this as a living. As the year went by i was still driving the ride truck but really wanted to race. but no one was looking for a driver, well a driver with no experience. Feb 2007 Don Frankish had a show in Saskatoon, I was there with the ride truck. Don let me race that weekend, he did the freestyling did great. I made it to the finals that weekend. i was up against Nathan Weenk. As soon as we lined up and that green flag dropped i threw it into 2nd gear and went for it! I lost by a hair. Nathan was shocked! A few months went by and i never heard from Don. i went to the World Finals and found out that Nathan was quitting I was sad that he was leaving. I knew Don wouldn't hire me, it never crossed my mind. i just went back to my old job at home in Abbotsford. then May 2007 i get a call from Don, he was asking me a lot of questions. we both know that I'm not as mechanically inclined like Nathan. I told don straight up that I'm not afraid to get greasy. ill do anything. When i worked for Paul Mayfield, I learned a lot. Example tiring up the truck and tiring down the truck. Those tires are heavy, but i managed. And i learnt about parts on the truck and how to fix them. So here I am today 2 month into the life of monster trucks and I'm just getting started and cant wait!
